Nobody shot your idea down, just understand that the money you're spending could go for a lost cause, so just be careful.

I'm going to explain this more clearly. Chandi please understand that if Google sustains the appeal and does't re-active ad service, then the site will eventually close. No amount of donating will bring it back. Lucid will keep it open for as long as he can afford to. But once he isn't able to anymore it will close.

By opening a gofund account and inviting your friends/family to donate, it's possible that they're donating to save a site that is not savable, and thus that money is essentially going to waste.
