nickelodeon symbolism to represent the moderation staff is cool
and i agree with the first part and my only problem is that it's not implemented or even considered most of the time
mods just go back to being report machines without a facet of personality
deletedover 10 years
you act like "userbase mod confidence" is something that matters/should matter
how many of the people constantly lampooning the mods are leaving the site or quitting competitive because their games arent being moderated properly
deletedover 10 years
and if someone in the community has a good idea and the mods read it and implement it then that's cool
i don't understand why a 30 page back and forth that ends with everyone harboring ill will is the answer, its like that episode of hey arnold where mr simmons becomes principal and tries to be nice to everyone and the kids take over the school

its literally "if you give a mouse a cookie" except real
the more the mod staff collectively responds to buttlords on the forums the more people want to start with them
maybe instead of having talk-about-feelings-and-give-out-free-hugs community discussion every time we think someone cheated the round should just be paused until someone comes out at says "suchandsuch cheated" or "the round is resuming now"
the problem is nobody respects the mods right now so you would end up with people complaining and making the situation wholly worse
but then again the forums serve a niche and are easily avoided/disregarded
just sometimes they hold good opinions with good ideas that are ignored regardless if a mod posts in the thread

phil is an incompetent shitbaby and if someone ripped the source code from this site and created EpicerMafia i'm sure 80% of the community would go with them

anonymous mods would be fine too and could actually fix most of the problems faced but i doubt lucid would go through with it

the spongebob episode in which spongebob becomes a hall monitor is a very distinct parallel of the jurisdiction of society and it's roles and frankly all mods are the maniacs in the end

for instance, i'm appealing every report pereking handles that involves me because i know he's an incompetent buttlord. why should i have the knowledge required to make it personal in the first place
deletedover 10 years
and no, mods shouldn't address people. in fact, there's absolutely no reason we should even be able to see which mod is handling our report.
deletedover 10 years
addressing a problem or person doesn't always require a forum post either, it's like being on active duty where you notice a problem and your job as hall monitor is to figure out a way to resolve in a timely manner

im still mad that giga gave me a vio for posting goatse in lobby chat
deletedover 10 years
agreed besides that last post, i think there needs to be a balance
i say this without disrespect to anyone but moderation on this website is very poor and perhaps that's because the community is horrid as it is but isolating yourself from that problem isnt going to make things better either so if mods would actually address people instead of pretending they dont exist i think one day we can find epicmafia harmony and billstickers will be allowed to post goatse at free will on the forums without being shunned
amen

explain to me how total mod transparency is a benefit to the site and the community without using the worse "i, personally, want to know what's going on"
deletedover 10 years
one day the mods will learn that the things they wanted the mods to do when they were players aren't actually what's best for the site
until then the mod situation will continue to be high comedy

mods are supposed to work for the community and make it better but instead have been given responsibility of treating it like a burden in which they have to deal with begrudgingly
and that's not right

lol modding is the most unrewarding and time-consuming deal that offers no feedback whatsoever and really the reason that mods constantly come and go (there's a number on the side that shows which # mod you are) is simply because of this and i don't recall a website ever needing to cycle through as many mods as epicmafia does in a daily basis. there really needs to be a better incentive or a way to connect community and mods because the mod pool is already staggeringly low as it is and it will only get worse at this rate
I will plan my up-voting/down-voting strategically.

I accept the circle jerk neg bomb.
I just find it amusing that you write an essay about problems you've created yourself as you play the victim.
deletedover 10 years
To be fair, you've not done anything to help yourself, slow.
You're not a part of the community. You're nice to a few people on the forums, but you've been a complete tosspot to everyone else ever since comp. The fact that you continue to be nice to the select few whilst maintaining your apathetic style of commenting to everyone else shows that you're not willing to to consider change. The only reason that you are not part of the community is that you chose to be. Think it's time you step down.

I'm appreciative of mod work. and I was banned for approx half year so.....

bro, i got this.
i'm ready.
i've been practicing doing like 1000+ reports in my spare time. I even have an alter-ego for modding.
Sorry i'm derailing your comment that is completely unrelated to the actual topic.

not everything is an argument. i'm not making an essay. i'm not arguing a point. i'm expressing my experiences and how i felt. and you're trying to invalidate that. this is almost entirely what i was talking about.
