Correction from the last edition
I would like to note that there was a mistake last edition about the training lobby tournament! There were two categories in the tournament: who could get the competitive ticket first, and who could finish the day with the most points. moooStache won first in getting the ticket, but Darleton edged ahead on total points. Thus, it was actually a tie overall! Congrats to our two winners! :)
Should We Change It Up?

Amidst the trolls in brownpimp008 and Khnm15---Suppandigirl, nopavi, and CarlySunshine24 were able to get the number to 39! Woot! It was a really fun night, because we waited until about 2 AM so that brownpimp008 would go to bed, and then we rolled right on through until Khnm15 spotted us. -_- But all's well that ends well--we beat the high score!

How did you find EM? I found em when i used to invite people to play mafia together at my house, like in real life mafia, and then i got obsessed and googled online mafia.
What’s your favorite thing about EM? My favorite thing is the psychological aspect; how people react in situations under pressure. I've used it outside of mafia countless times.
If you could change one thing about EM, what would it be? Definitely the training/competitive issue. What I would like (and I'm sure many people disagree but whatever) is to have a training competition like the competitive competition. instead of trophies, maybe use medals like they did in bronze lobby (or something else like pins or something) to encourage competitive players to go down and help teach the training players. The training lobby is useless if no one who understands the game really well is there to be the trainer.
What are your hobbies? (Outside of winning trophies on EpicMafia…) I go to a local community college, I skateboard (rarely now), I hang out with friends, and my girlfriend almost everyday, and i work part-time at a pizza place delivering pizza.
What’s your favorite EM memory? Favorite memory....mmmm....I think overall it was just watching loreli, fagbar (200000) and smash win trophies. it was the first time I saw how the competitive lobby worked, and it made me want to play all the time.
Name 1 unique thing about yourself! Unique...uhhhh...well I taught myself how to be ambidextrous (kinda) when i was...8 years old? That was back when Barry Zito was on the A's and I wanted to be just like him =p.
What’s SonOfZeus? And tell us about your family! Well, I just made the name son of Zeus cause I'm obsessed with Greek mythology. I don't really know what the second part of the question means, as in my family at home or in greek mythology...but home family is just me, my sister, dad and mom, and in Greek mythology...well if I was the son of Zeus then my dad would be Zeus, my mom would be....well anyone cause that's what Zeus did, and I'd probably have a really crappy life. As to my EM Families, We Are Gods is a family with a lot of my friends I talk to on skype all the time with, and Big Gay Homos is a family Prevail made me join when I won gold. we then convinced loreli and fagbar to join too. How long have you been on EpicMafia and what brought you to the site?
I’ve been on EM since 2010. I left the site for a few years and only recently came back. I found the site at random one day when I was bored, and I’ve regretted it ever since (just kidding!)
What is your favorite part about EpicMafia?
I used to play the minesweeper games a lot with Sachy, MG, Rada, Stephen, Bartha and Linus, so I really miss those and the Shot in the Dark games. Now I enjoy playing the party game in comp lobby because it reminds me of those days and I’ve gotten to know quite a few old/new EMers alike.
If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?
Telepathic abilities because I’m so paranoid and self-conscious.
What role do you least like on EpicMafia?
Any role post-ventriloquist/voodoo. I just don’t understand the new roles so I automatically dislike them.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Segovia and the Basque Region of Spain. Segovia, to see the Roman Aqueduct; Basque country/ Navarre because of its rich history of witchcraft.
If you could change one thing about EM what would it be?
I would like to return to the one lobby system again (with point requirements for comp’d games). I think it would make the community more cohesive and expose newer players to a greater range of setups. I would also like Utahraptor to go back to being the original business cat of EM :o(

There’s not much to report on results wise. One note worthy game mentioning is Surfman’s Big Brother Season 5. It was a very good game, well planned out with a unique twist on it, so kudos to Surf for hosting it. The winner ended up being xKandy in a 4-3 Jury Vote over runner-up HighSpace. The role I’ve decided to review this week is the Cowboy, created by hollapatrol. You can find out more information here: http://www.epicmafia.com/role/1730. This much like a third-party vigilante. He receives one gun that he must shoot every day or night. How to win? He has to shoot the last threat to the town--whether that be the last mafia, cultist, or other third party nuisance! I would agree with the comments on the role: "Bounty Hunter" would be a much more fitting name. I do like this role for Sandbox Lobby games, because it's a creative third party role that helps the town while having an angle of its own. I can't see this role having much of a chance in ranked games, because it is simply too powerful. I could see a ranked version of this role only if it was constrained a bit more--maybe given just one gun for the entire game. But for right now, the cons to this role would be its power. If it ever wishes to get an EM role spot, it must find a way to become less powerful and less obvious.

This role is pretty much a maf-sided Sheriff, as xXEpicGodfatherXx said. I love how this is less powerful than the one proposed by hollapatrol, yet--we already have a sniper. The only difference is in the identity reveal. I can't see this becoming an actual role unless you made it a little more distinct from Sniper--maybe add the possibility of use at night? It is a nice idea, but I doubt it will get much attention until it is changed up a bit. One last critique: when I think of cowboys, I think of John Wayne, the Cisco Kid, and the Lone Ranger. D: They aren't bad guys! Maybe "Rustler," "Renegade," or "Outlaw" would better suit the role.

People offend people all the time, but sometimes, it can go too far. Even what you think might have been petty could have been seriously harming to them. It doesn’t matter when you apologize. What matters is if you truly meant it. Of course, don’t wait 6 months to apologize, but make sure it counts. Hope this serves to help!

Armed and Dangerous
The classic A+D, probably the most ran on setup these days. This setup is so popular for a few reasons: one is that it is basically down to a science of who goes when and what gets cc’d and what doesn’t, and two is from the large point payoff which makes it really quite superior to most other setups for people to run on. The thing about this setup though is that while it is so massively run on, it really is quite luck based. The only time to game itself is really balanced is when neither cop nor gs is hooked or killed. Other than that, mafia usually always has the advantage, especially with a lack of protection roles, even clear PRs aren’t all that useful. The other great thing about this setup is that people can pin the win or loss on one person, a slip of a gun, really successful CC battle, shooting cop and hooking gs, whatever it may be, it really all depends on one person. And all these combined makes this such a great setup to run on.

And now here’s a great juxtaposition between A+D (the other setup Sun picked). lolnoobtraitormafialose is not only a mouthful but also a really goddamn interesting setup. With a lot of fantastic roles that are usually seen in different competitive setups smashed together in one setup, you know it will be fun. This setup is probably going to be the blow off setup that people play nearer to the end of the round because the multivaried aspects of it keep it fun and interesting, but difficult to win consistently on. Sure, some people can try to run on it, but in my opinion, the thousands of possibilities that can happen make it more of a fun setup and less of a serious setup.

Psychiatric Malpractice
Sonseray did an interesting move trying to remove the famine from Competitive Baker, but I don’t think switching out Bakers for Shrinks was the entirely right move. Sure, you lost the famine and you still have the useless visit to clear people, but the Thief is 100% useless besides the fact that he can visit the orc. With the lack of famine and three non-orc PRs, it really seems townsided to me. Famine seemed like the only thing that kept it relatively mafsided at all. Then again, I haven’t played this setup many times, but the time that I played it, it just seemed very simple for town to win. An interesting setup that’ll be one to watch.

Crier Gonna Cry
It’s GAI with Crier instead of Orc and a Day Start. I mean sure, it’s creative, but my question is why? Giving the mafia the inability to organize claims, the fact that the stalker has no real purpose until D2 (N3 if he’s going for a kill), and the fact that as BillStickers strategy details people can massclaim N1 for a really tough mafia win. This setup just seems very hastily thrown together and not much thought actually put into it. I love Crier and I’d love to see more comp setups with him besides Cry’n Spy, but adding Crier into a previously made setup doesn’t automatically make a good setup. A nice try, but I think it’s a swing and a miss.

Janitorial 2.0
Another great classic setup, one of the most played setups on the site. And it’s fairly straight forward, in the sense that while it is complicated, it is simple to see WHERE it is confusing. Let me clarify a bit: there is one aspect of the game where mafia has the upper hand and that is with the Jan. They cannot claim anything and psych the town out or CC their partners if a PR is janned. Other than those two variants, gameplay is fairly straight forward. Those two things are the only real considered twists that can happen and while it keeps players on their toes it allows for newer less experienced players to start to become accustomed to harder more challenging setups. I love this setup and it is a great play, but it will unfortunately and probably be overshadowed by the point chugging machine that is Armed and Dangerous.

Kittenz Was The Hooker 2.0
Lastly, we’ve got another interesting setup. There are a lot of great setups on the site with three town PRs and three mafia PRs, hell there are four setups alone with that combo this round. It seems like you can just slap three of each together and it be a good setup. Especially later into this site’s lifetime, it seems hard to create a setup that’s unique but still turns out to be good. Not too long ago, Giga turned out this setup which really is solid. While it in no way is a perfect setup nor is it the obvious run on, it is definitely a reliable fall back and a great setup to casually play every once in a while. Sure, it causes a bit more effort and a bit more confusion, but it is a great setup nonetheless.
Overall, I think that this has some really solid setups, and while it isn’t the best round to run on, A+D and Jan 2.0 will keep you runners busy. Good luck to all!
