but hipfiring isn't ALWAYS trolling, that's the problem with your argument. yes when hipfiring is given a violation it's trolling but it's not just an automatic vio
I can think of a strategic reason for someone to shoot another player, given content is present from which to get a read, without asking that person to hard claim. Wouldn't you agree?

and the thing is jack that hipfiring in red hearts has been put in with trolling

that's the thing, when do you know they are intentionally trying to lose the game?

We wouldn't have this problem if background checks were more in depth
My understanding is that hipfiring is firing without reads, not firing quick into the day, or firing without claims.
Correct me if the definition has changed. I don't believe that Shamu deserved that Trolling violation since there was content present from which to gather reads before the shot.
However, I think this thread opens a great discussion about where to draw that line between what's going to be considered hipfiring or not (shooting without claims vs shooting without reads).

Everybody gets one (1)

Guns add spontaneity to the game which is why they are so popular, but sometimes that spontaneity can backfire (no pun intended lol). If you play a setup with guns in it, expect to get shot.
Expecting hipfiring to be vio-worthy is absurd unless they are intentionally trying to lose the game.

In this game, 17 seconds had gone by between when town/mafia were given their roles, and when sheriff actually shot.
This is 100% hipfire, noone in their right mind could ascertain reads in 17 seconds with 5 things said total.

ya, everyone seems to get one even though ppl joke about it
Hipfiring has a pretty broad definition currently. I don't think it's ever been regulated to a set standard.
While I think it was, and always is a terrible idea to shoot in that setup with so many critical PR's, technically if he really thought you were mafia you would only claim a PR role anyway, and thus there really is no reason to make you claim if he believes that.
Hipfiring should be, and is loosely regulated as shooting before you are;
Able to have enough time to gain true reads(the amount of time needed is subjective in and of itself though)
A few minutes of reading is honestly enough time in most cases. In this case with very little, to nothing said d1 it's kind of iffy, but it's hard to prove trolling intent either way.

I mean Expose if you could get reads in 2:28 minutes, you're quite the mafia player

I'm pretty sure there have been other games where everyone says to hipfire and the person who does it still gets a violation so your point?????
