Faking afk is a different thing Cnote. And he did fake afk for the most cruical moments of the game. It does not matter if it is five seconds or two hours.
You could continue after shot by saying "oh gs is shot. thats sad" etc., even after 20 seconds. at worst you could say "i was here reading" but no. again, you said "what happened before i came back" which means "hey guys i was afk when the gun was shot". when you were actually in game. when you were hiding, faking afk by not talking, by not answering to anyone. thats like, definition of faking afk. it is not like long nights let you fake afk but night wasnt really long, we did not even see kicks.
So you admit you faked afk between the shot and midday. Eshbd, it would not be a vio if you did not attempt to fake afk / claim you were afk by asking what happened before you join! us. But you wrote things to clearly imply you were afk when shot was happened. Thats the vio. Thats the bad play.

The night took forever, check the logs. I hammered it multiple times but it never actually went through. Finally I said it, hammered and tabbed out(I'm at work).
I came back about 30 seconds later to the GS having softed an out, me being gunned and having a choice. I shot the GS, I at that point didn't IMMEDIATELY come back as it would look incredibly scummy. I waited 20 seconds or so then came back.
I did "fake" afk for about 20 seconds after the shot, but only for that reason.
I do not EVER fake afk at day start, I play at work and have a ton of things going on. Yes, I know, I probably shouldn't play at work but it's the only chance I typically get in my day.
