I'm having one. Let's dye my hair. What colour?
After going through old photos I'll give some advice to those younger.
Don't pierce your own ears. I did and I didn't mark it and it came out lopsided. Took a year to heal and redo.
Don't try to cut your own bangs in that cute across your forehead way without proper knowledge. I did and it took me a month to grow it out long enough to fix it.
Don't shave your legs before the thick hairs grow in. I did only below the knee and now they get spiky and above the knee is always smooth and nice.
Though you think it does, a scarf will not hide your belly. Gotta do situps or eat right if it bothers you enough to reach that conclusion.
If you have super curly hair like I do and hate trying to straighten it like I do.. Add some of that anti-heat product and take whole chunks of hair and flatten it down. It will turn into a wave and should only take 5 minutes. Otherwise, tie back your bangs behind your forehead. It helps get rid of the poof. This will not work for coily hair types(Curl types 3/4C,4A,4B and B if I've got them all). I'm a mixture of 3A and 2C depending on how I treat my hair after a shower.
Don't wash your hair for at least 2 days before bleaching it and for good measure, wrap it up in coconut oil the night before bleaching and go to bed with it like that.
Coconut oil bleaching is a thing I personally haven't tried but am planning to tomorrow because from the looks of it, it's probably the best option. I'll write about my results when I do.
Oh and coconut oil makes an amazing and affordable hair mask. Comb it into your hair once every 7-10 days and rinse it out in the morning. You'll notice a difference after time.
I want to make it very clear that I have never dyed my own hair and have only done what I have shown in a photo higher up once and professionally.
Everything I understand about this is from dying others hair and from research.
Currently, I'm in the process of bleaching.
1) Watch for your eyebrows. I got to mine JUST in time.
2) It's a lot harder than it looks to do the back of your own head. NOTHING like doing someone else so get help where you can.
3) Take your time. Don't lose your temper and rush or you'll end up patchy.
I will be waiting a week or so and going over again because I'm not satisfied with the shade and I would like to even out some mistakes I've made.
I'm adding more coconut oil into it tonight and leaving it like that until morning.
Maybe I'll be a dummydum and wait until the day after tomorrow. We'll see.
This is the bleach job I did myself when I first started this forum.
I posted this in faces and it reminded me to talk about my journey.
My hair has NOT suffered at ALL. No split ends, the texture has remained the same, and it's still easy to straighten without worrying about damage.
So its been WELL over a week but the colours you guys voted have been sold out because of the virus.
Bleaching is still an option SO
I could do full head like originally planned (I pussied out)
I could redo what I've done but lighter and higher.
I could leave it like this and wait for the colours to be available.
I dunno yet but I'll post whatever I do on here.
