D&D Stories

almost 5 years

Hello! I've recently started playing Dungeons and Dragons with my sister and her friends and it is a grand fun time and I'm surprised I didn't do this sooner. I love being a super nerd.

Anyway, I'll update this with funny things that happen during our weekly sessions, feel free to share any funny stories from your D&D games too!!

Disclaimer: I know hardly anything about D&D besides what I have played in the game and done a little research on (like my character).

Update time!

This weekends session was pretty lowkey. There was a lot of talking and back story delving we went into for some members of the party. Mostly we are figuring out that the enemy of our party member may have been charmed into hating our party member but we are still trying to figure it out.

I met up with that monk who I fought in the tournament and he has begun teaching me some things. Also I almost got another party member of ours killed bc she told me a secret that I couldn't tell anyone for a few hours so I didn't and now everyone in the party is mad bc I stick to my word (idiots) but the party member who told me in okay... she just ALMOST died hehe.

I think I prefer fighting things over all the role-playing if I'm being honest.

That is all, tune in next week for next session's fun things. Thanks.

This weekend's session was kind of crazy!!

So we ran into and captured the sister of one of our party members who basically worships the God who is trying to possess our friend. We captured her bc she was trying to kill us and it's very confusing. She escaped while I was keeping watch at night bc I rolled sh*tty perception.

Anyway after that we went to this village that was having a festival with an archery and melee tournament. The melee tournament was crazy. I fought an pretty powerful monk (i am also a monk) for my first fight and he messed me up real good. I lost but he offered to teach me things after the tournament is over. Then a member of our party ended up fighting a nemesis from his backstory and the dude straught up ignored the rules and KILLED our party member and ran away w/ his body.

All good though bc we teamed up and took him down and captured him. I had to use my newly acquired scroll of resurrection to resurrect our party member but instead of being a tall handsome human he became a rock gnome so now he's teeny tiny and it's funny tbh.

That is all, tune in next week for next session's fun things. Thanks.

i would host but i have a pathfinder group and a call of cthulhu group amongst other homebrew rp stuff that i do

also i feel like some sandboxers would play in a way that i dont enjoy (its fine to play in that way but its just not a way that i enjoy)

one day in like 2 yrs maybe ill host a game. Since I'm getting more into it I'm starting to learn some more about it, but DMing looks like a lot of work that I am not mentally prepared for at this time.

Few things that have happened in some years of D&D.

I'm locked in a cell, friend is tied up naked to one of those torture tables flat down in another room. Friend challenges this orc to a spinning competition and gets a natural 20, resulting in him spinning so fast it lifts the table with him still on and wacks the orc unconscious.

My evil character drinking wine with a drunken Wight after a boss fight in a dungeon, Wight watched the whole fight happen still drinking, so I started teaching it common language on our journey but party members keep teaching it swear words. Gave it an evil book that twists it mind the more it kills as a weapon.

Had a magical hand with a hafling called Merry (From LotR) that did random actions with each die roll. Entered a house's cellar that was full of kobolds and a gelatinous cube until we reached this large room with a dragon. The room began filling up with water as we entered the fight, part way through I decide to use my magical hand and all of a sudden the magical hand grabs the dragon and flings it upwards and into the town square, where the dragon began eating a couple villagers.

Recent campaign (Might be Storm King's Thunder), we freed a pillaged town that goblins and giants attacked, (specter attacked the goblins that went near the graveyard). We cross the bridge and reach the castle were some of the villagers and guards are defending. Being the high charismatic character that I was (Forgot class of Human), I started tricking the guards that I was the rightful heir of the town's throne due to the king dying beforehand.from the giants. I "wept" of my ancestor's deaths and excused myself into the great library with another party member that was skilled in caligraphy. I told the guard that tried to enter to remain outside in a tearful manner as the party member began adding me to the Royal tree as a distant relative.

i think what would be cool is since i imagine the demand for people to play a sandbox tabletop game like d&d would be to host a call of cthulhu game and when your investigator dies then someone else takes over with their character since it's so easy to die in call of cthulhu, then there'd be real incentive to keep your character alive and there'd be a lot of great stories coming up from the ways people died etc

i host pathfinder but it's more serious roleplaying than naming your pets things like colonel sanders but it still produces a lot of fun stories especially when you take it seriously and more realistic, one of the party members, an elven cleric, has had all these terrible rumours about him going around the starting town for ages and it's so funny to see how much time the party have devoted to trying to stop these rumours

there's also this running thing where whenever they find a new building that they like assume is an enemy stronghold or something like that they spend literally an hour of real time trying to get the door open in the most ridiculous ways possible because they want to be smart or want to not alert people etc etc

We started up a DnD game with a group of friends last semester. However one of our friends stopped coming to the sessions and basically left our friend group, so we tortured her character in the game lol.

Update time! This weekend's session was really funny. I laughed probably the most I've ever laughed but I think it was more bc I was drunk and our DM got drunk (which I have never seen him drunk before so it made things great)

We found the book we were supposed to have found. My similacrum sacrificed herself for the greater good.

So when we when into this giant library w/ scrolls and books to get the book there were these oozes just shifting around. We ended up asking them if they've heard of the book we need and one of them went and got it! So then, clever ole me thought I'd ask for a specific scroll so i got us a scroll of resurrection if anyone in our party dies. So the next 30 minutes everyone was asking the oozes to get things for them if it was in the library. I decided to feed an ooze a piece of jerky and rolled two nat 20's on animal handling so now I have a pet ooze whom I have named Flower, and he is a good boy. Him and Colonel Sanders are best friends.

That is all, tune in next week for next session's fun things. Thanks.

I play a lvl 5 half-orc monk rn who is basically The Avatar, and I have a pet chicken named Colonel Sanders.

So our DM started his own campaign and so far it's going super well. One of our party members has a dagger that is slowly possessing him by convincing him to kill things with it and the dagger magically reappears on him if it is taken or lost. So as part of our journey to figure his stuff out we were in this dungeon maze trying to figure out a way to get to an item we needed, and so we all had colored lanterns. I had a yellow lantern and we had explored a red lantern room. So me being the impulsive idiot I am decided to go into a dark room alone with this yellow magical lantern and was immediately transported to an area w/ 5 kobolds. Easy peasy, right? WRONG

I killed two of them and the rest dropped to their knees and I thought they were gonna surrender but nope they pleaded to the heavens and a giant black dragon swooped down and almost immediately killed me (seriously was 5 points away from being dead instead of unconscious), also thank GOD for relentless endurance. At the same time everyone figured out how to get into the room (even though it was lowkey cheating but I was glad for it)

Another fun thing that happened later: We were in a different battle and there were magical books on the wall we kept hitting if we missed our attacks, that basically summoned monsters or spells that hurt us, some helped but most were bad. I rolled a crit one on an attack and was freaking out but it worked out in my favor bc I got a book that summoned a similacrum (which is basically a clone of me that can do everything I do but doesn't have my items)and I kicked a$$.

That is all tune in next week for next sessions fun things. Thanks.
