How many stars: conclusion

I am making this thread to protest a vio given to me by a moderator that claims that saying the n-word is prohibited even if the following apply:

  • It is being used in a context referring to the word itself, rather than one where it is being used against someone
  • The letters following the "n" are starred-out

SURELY you cannot argue that my use of the n-word, which was not offensive and did not even have the word at all (the letters were starred-out) was a rulebreaking one.

I uploaded a thread "How many stars? Guide for new playe" asking moderators to specify the number of stars that a person should use when starring-out part of the n-word to avoid offending anyone too sensitive. I did this in response to people (including black people) being given vios for using the n-word in various non-offensive contexts. At no point did I ever actually write the six forbidden letters.

The thread was nearly four months old, and had five upvotes. The comments were positive, clearly the thread was a genius example of satirical comedy.

The moderators took it down, and threatened me with a vio for "racial slurs".

Return my thread to me; it was wrongfully removed.

If writing "n" and then a number of stars after it is against the rules, then say so, and I will report everyone that has ever posted it, and you can ban them for me.

The point I am (clearly) making is that there are contexts where it is not immoral to say the n-word. The argument the moderators have used previously to vio naughty words written in their entirety is that advertisers will theoretically pull funding from the website if the words are not removed. This clearly does not apply when we are talking about writing the letter "n" and writing five asterisks after it. There is no reason for the moderators to disallow the use of the n-word when it is starred-out and not being used against a person or group of people.

we have made it very clear that as per lucid's direction, we are enforcing a zero tolerance slur policy, no exceptions. intent and context are irrelevant, and usage of those words is an autovio.

the thread was specifically designed to bait people using and discussing the n word. the op was also an issue, as it contained the n word.

i answered your question. if you absolutely HAVE to talk about it, say "n word". the op of your post does not do that. that thread breaks our racial slurs rule. period.

It is against the rules, though, the policy that has been set is that of zero tolerance, and this topic was found to be breaching the rules, which is why it was removed. Remaking it twice does not change this policy.

Except this was not the case. It was only when you remade the thread, did you receive a note. And only after a 2nd time after being explicitly told not to do this again through the report system, did you do it again and receive a violation and a warning that doing so again would lead to a RS vio.

you then proceeded to repost a thread that did not follow the guidelines i set out for you. frankly, you're lucky you didn't get a racial slur when i was clearly warning you of that when i applied the note.

your thread was an obvious attempt at baiting and dropping the n word without getting in trouble.

your question was answered. thread no longer necessary, and it's not appropriate to be on the site with that kind of language, so it was moved.

(the last one being from your appeal), there have been various mentions in the rules, the announcements, the forums, and the wall about the zero tolerance policy on the site. A zero tolerance policy means zero tolerance, regardless of context, from being posted on the site.
