The Real Reason for Userbase Decay

It used to be that if we invited our friends to EpicMafia, we would get FREE TOKENS, so existing users had an incentive to invite their friends and help them reach 5000 points.

Well Lucid, for "reasons" (????) decided that he could make more money by not giving out free tokens.

If invited users reaching 5000 points gave the inviter 10 tokens for free, then users who are too broke could get colors. Hell, even if someone doesn't have any "friends" they would still have an incentive to create more accounts and be more active, and in terms of AdSense money -- active usercount + registrations per month probably factor into the paycheck.

I bet you that we'd see more new users coming in if we were compensated for organically growing the community, as it was in the past

So basically to summarize what this guy is saying from what I understand. He believes that people are choosing not to play epicmafia because they can't have color in their names or that having color in their names is incentive to play epicmafia with friends? In all the time I'v played "who did it" games, I'v never once considered not being able to look fancy as an impediment of my ability to enjoy the game with my friends. This is a party game to some people.

Now obviously I'm not saying someone out there doesn't see it any other way, but, I am just giving my ten cents.

Nah I agree, this ain't it. The tokens aren't expensive enough to justify it.

But I think you're on the right track. Giving incentives for bringing in friends is typically a good idea.
