Petition to have Lockout timers

over 9 years

Can we have lock out timers placed on set ups. Either set ups themselves (and/or) roles as well. We need lock outs in place to keep games fun and interesting and FRESH.

Lockouts for Set Ups!

Please sign this immediately. We need to do away with the SAME set ups every time you look in a lobby. It isn't fun. It isn't challenging and it's not developing skill.

There really should be some more new roles now that we are closing in on Christmas. Sandbox setups? Nothing needs changing drastically, just stick with the official ones and the custom roles setup.

If you really need to moan about the setups. Make new ones and host them. But expect criticism.

Meh Locking out setups does seem unfair tbh but at the same time everyone overuses the the same two setup's majority of the time. I signed the petition but all I really want is people to mix it up using different setups and new roles.

If you want to play a different setup, then play a different setup. You can make your own games.Plus there are people every day who make the 11 thirds setup, custom role setups, voodoo , the one with all the wealthy santas, war sim. Just join those when they crop up or make your own game and hope it fills.

It is what it is son idk what to tell you but I think putting stop to how frequently people can play this setup or that is ridiculous

Stop trying to regulate stuff, let the people be free to choose what's best for them!!

if you dont want to play Official Sandbox setup, start another game with a different setup. No one is forcing you to play games you don't want to.
It's that simple.

about the setups and people complaining:
Have any of the criticizers been willing to explain why they think the setups are bad?
Could you link me to a couple of the setups you've tried, so I can give more constructive opinions on them?

about lockout itself:
I do not think that setup lockout will do what you're looking for. It is very, very easy to get around setup lockout. That's what my first reply was about.
Role lockout might be a little more successful, but I'm not convinced it's the best way to get what you're looking for.

Please, convince me! Tell me a few roles that we don't use enough. Tell me about a few combinations of roles that you've put thought into.

I mean technically speaking the setups always end up being different with the officially sandbox setup, like once the game starts its not like everyone is always the same role it varies. So even using the same setup you're technically not.

12 person closed role is always interesting, and i think it keeps sandbox pretty fresh and on their toes.

This could still be a good idea for other lobbies though.

I have hosted numerous games. People always want to criticize without trying. Sometimes I randomly throw, but sometimes I put a lot of thought into it and how the roles can outwit each other. Point is it doesnt take away anything permanently. key point. Also lets say you're on a lock out. You can just play main until it's over. But at least it wont be in sandbox with the same set up, and ppl who will want to play will play a new one

my longer reply comes later. I just want to give this more time to get viewed on it's own. The numerous roles not being used are listed btw. it's easier to look at the ones being overused.

Plissken. Stop ranting about cookies in the chat box and get in here.

Your setup/role lockout idea is that we keep using the same few dozen roles and same couple of setups, that there's great options out there that we're not using, and that if we would just try them we would see how great they are.

Your way to get us to try them is to take away the things we like so that our only way to get what we want is to first go through the things you want.

This isn't chocolate chip cookies vs oatmeal cookies. This is broccoli vs cookies. This is "no desert until you finish everything on your plate." This is "you can't have your pudding if you don't eat your meat!"

Basically, this feels like punishment.

**You want to take away things we like so that our only way to keep playing is to try the things you like.**

**You resort to this tactic because you can't think of another way to convince us to try them.**

You can't be bothered to make a setup with the roles you want. You can't be bothered to host games with that setup, to let us try and enjoy them on our own time. You're convinced that we wouldn't give the roles a shot.

Why is that?

but havent ya thought that people are happy with the same thing again and again? they obviously are cos people keep coming back and joining game after game with the same setup.

It's not anti-sandbox. Using the set ups the way people are doing is anti-Sandbox. Sandbox cant even be fun because people arent using the wide variety of roles available or even filling games above 12 players. Why not a 25 player game? Why not a game where true skills are tested where MORE roles can have synergy in their abilities?

Maybe we should make a daily mandatory auto-25 player game too, but i digress. I'm satisfied with just the lock out timer.

I'm not against sandbox. I'm against it NOT being utilized to its fullest potential. We need to have lock out timers on set ups (it's not banning them, it's just making it so at some point you HAVE to play a different set up style) let's refer to it as set up spamming. It's no different than how in some MMOs you have lock out timers on a mission. You can still replay it, but the timer may have you locked out of it for 58 hours or less or more pending. I want that. It might be a 6 hour timer or a 4 hour timer, but PLEASE give us one!

This is all I'm asking

I want people to use more creativity and wide range set ups by NOT rehashing the same old crap set ups with the same old roles! It may as well be Main #2.

Leave Sanbox alone!

on sandbox?
nah, sandbox is the "fun" lobby and if anything, i feel like sandbox official makes it more interesting than others. because you've a wide array of roles to claim and fakeclaim.
like i saw someone fake being mafia to be hunter and take out his fos and won it for town, that's brilliant gameplay imo

last night someone faked det as actress, and won the game because people thought he was clear

it's more challenging then like, some setups where there's a set way to play. like don't get me wrong, voltron doesn't like it is my favourite setup, but it's the same thing game after game, and that's tiresome.

why not consider hosting games? things like third party battle royale and hot potato have really gained momentum recently, because people checked them out and enjoyed them. c:

Meaningless. We use the same few setups because they're conveniently stickied near the top of the page. If this setup lockout becomes a thing, we'll just make Official Sandbox A, Official Sandbox B, and so one, with minor differences of a single role so that it's essentially the same setup.

If you really want to encourage people to use a wider variety of roles and setups, first you need to know *why we keep using these few setups*. Without that, your solutions are just obstacles we'll get around.
